Limited Edition red 360 confirmed

New colour console to be part of Resident Evil 5 hardware bundle in March

Microsoft has confirmed the ongoing rumours that it is to launch a new red Xbox 360 console as part of a Limited Edition Resident Evil 5 console bundle alongside the release of Capcom’s game on March 13th.

The pack includes a red console and wireless controller, as well as a 120GB hard drive, black headset, a copy of the game and an exclusive downloadable Xbox 360 dashboard theme.

It has also been confirmed that Capcom’s demo of Resident Evil 5 has been downloaded over four million times across Microsoft’s Xbox Live network and Sony’s PSN.

The price of the bundle has not yet been confirmed. Microsoft’s press release also suggests that the bundle will only be available from “select retailers”, though the details of that are also unknown.

Fantastic this means the colour of the console will match the RRoD when it comes in at some point :-P No, in all honesty it's quite a nice look but think it would stand out like a sore thumb under most peoples tvs

Game exclusive?

If what Earl posts is correct - I think it's high time that the monopolies commision took a closer look at these exclusivity deals. They were rife over Q4 and despite reporting on them being somewhat mute - they spread over a broad spectrum of product.

Green 360 controllers - special edition versions of AAA titles - it smacks of edging out the competition on all but a few major accounts, whilst competition in the games industry is still at a reasonably healthy level at the moment, it's without doubt on the decline - a rapid one at that.

I could mention certain retailers that had a dirth of 'hard to find' product over Q4 - so much so they had them piled over their counters and there is no way in this world that it was due to market share - because factually - here in the UK - there's is almost non-existent.

Something dirty is a foot and I think it will take something akin to what happened to Nintendo a few years back to put it back on an even keel - I hope for the sake of retail as a whole it is dealt with sooner rather than later.
