Lost and the Damned sets XBL record

Microsoft says GTAIV expansion has smashed previous revenue records, though the exact numbers remain unknown

Xbox 360 platform holder Microsoft has said that Rockstar’s The Lost and the Damned, a platform exclusive downloadable expansion for Grand Theft Auto IV, has broken previous revenue records for Xbox Live.

Kotaku quotes the firm as stating that the DLC has “eclipsed first-day revenue for all previous downloadable content on Xbox Live”, though details of quite how many sales were seen in the first 24 hours have not yet been released.

Rockstar will release additional DLC for GTA IV exclusive on Xbox 360 later this year.

This download content is great value for money, and has a set a benchmark for all future game downloads. For what you get on this download some publishers would have no qualms with releasing this as a full priced game in the shops, spot on to Rockstar for such fantastic dlc bring on the new instalment!!

My understanding of $50 million, was that it was a 'loan' to pay for development. The money has to be paid back first, any profits after that will be split between MS and Rockstar.

50 million was not a loan but it's for making L&D exclusive to Xbox 360.
