The Hut confirms finalisation of Zavvi deal and relaunch of online arm today
100 new jobs are to be created in the entertainment retail sector following the confirmation of The Hut’s buyout of entertainment retailer Zavvi, as revealed by MCV this morning.
The acquisition sees The Hut take ownership of Zavvi.co.uk, and the firm will be looking for 100 new faces to work from its current Cheshire office in Northwich.
The revamped Zavvi website will offer a broader range of products than before, with electrical, perfume and lingerie joining the regular games, music and film offerings. Free delivery will now be a standard offer, and lower prices are promised.
“Zavvi is a major player in entertainment retail, both in the UK and Ireland,” The Hut Group CEO Matthew Moulding stated. “Our aim is to capitalise on this well recognised high street brand and transform the business into a leading class online retailer, not only in entertainment, but also across lifestyle products.
“The new discounted price points, supported by significant future investment in customer driven functionality improvements, should enable us to create an exciting online retailer.

“The team is excited about the opportunities this acquisition presents and the growth plans across The Group will be supported by our continuing drive to add talented new members to the team across most disciplines.”

Lingerie? Seriously?
Do The Hut really think people will by underwear from zavvi? The brand was only just building penetration in to the entertainment arena, why on earth do they think they can have success with pants?!!
Re: Lingerie? Seriously?
A friend of mine worked on the original site.. the REAL zavvi site! They got made redundant and have not even been offered one of these 100 jobs, it sucks!
I for one will not be buying lingerie off this fake site, lingerie really!!
