Killzone becomes 4th fastest selling Sony game

Whilst Halo Wars becomes the best selling console RTS by a ratio of 3-1

As well as claiming the top spot in the ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack All Formats Top 40 this week, Killzone 2 has become the fourth fastest selling Sony published title ever in the UK.

It didn’t quite nab the PS3 crown, however, having to settle for second place the fastest selling stakes behind Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.

Guerrilla Games’ shooter is Sony’s first All Formats number one for nearly two years, with the last being PS2 brawler God of War 2 in April 2007.

And Microsoft has reason to cheer, too – Halo Wars might have failed to get anywhere near Halo 3’s week one numbers (managing to capture just 17.6 per cent of its sales) but its sales better those of the previous best-selling console RTS, EA’s Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, by a ratio of three-to-one.

Lawl you got to be kidding me. 3-1 to just because it says HALO. Are these publishers idiots? Posting something like this make them lose creditability.

killzone 2 really does deliver on hype, the online side of the game simply blows any other online experience away, im pleased this game lives up to the hype, i get fed up with over marketed games that dont deliver

of corse halo wars is doing well.
ms know all they have to do is slap the name halo in the frount and it will sell like hot cakes.
but they can only milk it so far sooner than later its going to get old.
halo this halo that soon where going to have halo cars and halo laptops and halo houses where does it end..

killzone is no halo killer, simply because this is not a true halo game, just age of empires with halo names, tsk tsk

People, this chart is JUST for the UK, not Europe. Europe's numbers won't be known for a little while yet.

Is anyone REALLY surprised that an over-hyped FPS outsold an RTS, regardless of the franchises involved?

The fact that Killzone 2 hasn't sold as fast as GT5 Prologue shows that it's success is solid, but not spectacular. In fact, it has to settle for 4th place on the list of fastest selling Sony-produced PlayStation games, and that's with a huge marketing push and years of hype behind it.

Disappointing.
