Contract renewed between Star Wars rights holder and leading publisher
LucasArts has renewed its pan-European, Southeast Asia and Australian publishing and distribution agreement with Activision Blizzard.
The news comes follows a successful year for the partnership, which saw Star Wars: The Force Unleashed become the bestselling Star Wars game of all time, with over 5.7 million units sold worldwide.
LucasArts and Activision are poised to continue this momentum with stellar brands for years to come starting with the highly anticipated Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings recently announced to ship in June 2009.
"This agreement with Activision reflects LucasArts' commitment to the international markets and we look forward to bringing the best products to our consumers worldwide," said Mary Bihr, VP of global publishing at LucasArts.
"We made the decision based upon Activision’s proven track record in managing strong brands and our long standing relationship which has produced tremendous results as games such as LEGO Indiana Jones and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed have risen to the top of sales charts globally."
