A duo of hardcore titles for Nintendo’s Wii and DS head up this week’s new arrivals, with Sega’s eagerly awaited MadWorld and Rockstar’s DS ambitious GTA: Chinatown Wars hitting shelves.

Sega’s third-person action game has sparked controversy since its unveiling, with the Wii game inviting players to butcher their enemies in a variety of ways in a heavily stylised and highly violent environment. The Daily Mail and The Sun called for the game to be banned from release but the BBFC passed it unedited.

DS fans will be able to get their hands on the latest entry to the Grand Theft Auto series, as Rockstar’s GTA: Chinatown Wars is released. Living up to the performance of its predecessors, the game also attracted controversy for including a drug-dealing mini-game that funds players’ activities and arsenals.

Other releases this week include the Mushroom Men games (South Peak), Ready 2 Rumble Revolution (Atari) and two PSP doublepacks featuring Metal Gear, Silent Hill and Coded Arms games (Konami).
