House of the Dead breaks swearing world record

Sega’s recent Wii shooter is most potty-mouthed game ever, according to Guinness World Records

House of the Dead: Overkill has won itself the prestigious honour of being officially crowned the most swear word filled game ever released, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

The game contains the word ‘f*ck’ a total of 189 times – in fact, the F word accounts for three pre cent of the game’s entire dialogue.

“It is a dubious honour to receive such an accolade working in an industry where so often the fruits of your labours are derided and dismissed for being puerile or irresponsible,” the game’s writer Jonathan Burroughs stated.

“But in the case of The House Of The Dead: Overkill, a little puerility was the order of business. Parodying the profane excess of grindhouse cinema was Headstrong Games' objective and I am flattered that this record acknowledges that we not only rose to that challenge, but entirely exceeded it.”

The next Guinness Book of World Records: Gamers Edition will include the entry – a first for gaming. The current record holder in the film industry is Casino, which hosts the F word on 422 occasions – around 2.4 times per minute.
