Google to unveil gaming push?

Leading internet search form Google is to host a games-centric press gathering at GDC next week, though the details of what will or will not be on show remain deliberately vague.

Invites for the event seem to focus on games-related themes for iGoogle. More interestingly, however, it also states:

We will be creating an interactive experience that will bring the gaming industry’s most iconic characters to life and allow you to ride through their adventures. You’ll hear some of the game publishers involved in the project.

As an added bonus, you can see an early preview of a few of the games gadgets that developers are building for iGoogle.”

The fact that the gathering has been kept under wraps until now could mean that the announcement will contain some potentially important news – or that it’s all a bit of an afterthought.
