Nintendo expands Virtual Console

GDC 09: New part of Wii allows access to new arcade titles

Nintendo has expanded the Virtual Console on its Nintendo Wii today, adding new arcade services to the platform.

Explained Satoru Iwata: "Initailly six classic arcade games will be available in Japan and four in America, Europe and elsewhere. And more and more are coming to the Virutal Console line-up."

Space Harrier and others are available now with Space Invaders and other iconic titles on the way.

Nintendo also confirmed that a brand new Final Fantasy is heading to the platform - as well as confirming a WiiWare sequel to FF: Life as a King.
