GDC 09: Global sales of Wii Fit and peripheral just a few million behind Sony console
Nintendo this morning told attendees to its GDC keynote that the Wii Balance Board has almost outsold the PS3 globally.
Iwata referred to the device as almost a platform in its own right, pointing out that developers now have more options for games development and hardware to target.
"Some developers are already taking advantage of this opportunity," before a Nintendo rep demoed new Wii Ware game Rock 'n' Roll Climber.
"We rapidly expand the installed base by introducing things like the Wii Balance Board," added Iwata, saying that he felt it was Nintendo's duty to just release one or two first party games that use the hardware and let third parties take over from there.

:S
seems that everyone tries to use the ps3 as a punching bag, dammit that hurts the console reputation. at least sony gives games, unlike nintendo obviously
wi fit board nearly outsells ps3
and chewing gum has outsold all pc's, wii, xbox360 , ps3, ds, and psp this week. For gods sake get real. its easy to outsell something if the price is right and yes Im sure nintedo are laughing all the way to the bank but what a stupid comment.
Wrong!
Wii Fit sold 17 million
PS3 sold 21 million
4 million difference and Wii Fit will never surpass PS3.
That's hilarious
Who would have thought that playstation would have dropped to last and nintendo would release the greatest gaming system of all time. As for Gil's comment if you look closely it says almost outsold they didn't say it had done so yet. Go nitendo!
Ummm...
I can guarantee PS3’s wont be in peoples attics and under their beds 3 years from now!
No...
...no it'll still be in the shops storage room! :P
It's simple enough, Sony got too cocky with the PS3 expecting people to just buy it without any prior knowledge, simliar to the PS2. But people were smarter then that and went for fun over graphics.
Hense Nintendo being back where they should be, on top.
