Metaboli enjoys 120% Q1 2009 growth

Digital downloads site predicts further 100% growth forecast for the remainder of the year

PC digital distribution company Metaboli has announced that its Q1 2009 turnover is up 120 per cent compared the same period in 2008.

“Our triple-digit growth is based on strong fundamentals, namely the introduction of a very attractive promotional plan to our customers and having the largest digital video games catalogue in Europe,” Metaboli’s VP of marketing and product Jérôme Gayet stated.

“The results were also driven by the release of big titles, such as GTA IV, Football Manager 2009 and FEAR 2, which were the bestselling games of Q1 2009”.

The firm’s VP of content Pierre Forest added: “Metaboli strives to deliver the best value to its customers by offering exclusive products. During the first quarter of 2009 we bolstered our offering with exclusive games launches, including Codemasters’ Leisure Suit Larry and digital exclusive launches such as Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 Uprising.

“We also strive to offer the broadest games catalogue possible, while the traditional B&M retailers are required to limit their offerings to recent blockbusters.”

hmmmmm Leisure Suit Larry has got pants reviews, and the metaboli price point is weak in a highly price-sensitive market. I would love to know what the actuals are behind that triple digit growth. It might be from £1000 to £3000.
