Trip Hawkins: iPhone is “freaking out” Sony and Nintendo

EA founder and current Digital Chocolate chief exec heaps praise on emerging format

Trip Hawkins, games industry legend and founder of publishing powerhouse EA, has stated that he believes the success of Apple’s iPhone has major platform holders worried.

Hawkins is the current chief executive of mobile games developer Digital Chocolate, and has enjoyed great success on Apple’s device.

“The iPhone is by far our most effective platform,” Hawkins told Venturebeat. “Between the iPod Touch and the iPhone, I think the platform is freaking out Sony and Nintendo."

unless Digital Chocolate have PSP/DS games in the works, by response would be, well they would say that wouldn't they.

They are bigging up the platform they are working on..

Does that class as "news" here these days?

hmm...I don't think it is to be honest. The Iphone is extremely expensive and I can't see it really making Nintendo and Sony panic, regardless of the devices capability it will never replace the home console systems and systems like Nintendo DS will sell because they have better games.

That's right Trip, Sony & Nintendo must be "freaking out" in the same way as as they did when you launched 3DO in the 90's.
