A little like the man complaining he found ecstasy tablets under the cover of second hand copy of GTA IV that he bought for his 12 year old son from Gamestation..... complaining like billy'o that his son could have taken them and died, but no mention of the fact that he wasn't old enough to have the game

I fail to see the relevance of referencing the story about finding the drugs in a game an adult of legal age bought for someone too young. The trading standards story is ulitmately about them trying to make sure they dont supply somebody underage at the point of sale. A retailer has no control once that copy leaves the store.

Well done for posting that!

@2: You're missing the point of #1's comment. The guy bought a game that his son was too young to play, and then complained about the drugs. The parent thought it was okay for a 12 year old to have an 18 rated game being the very relevant point.

These 4 stores might have refused to sell the game to the teen, but they won't refuse to sell the game to the teen's mother or father. It doesn't matter what the trading standards do if the moronic parents really don't give a damn. Parents think it's okay to buy their underage kids games because they "think" they know better. Anything to keep the kids quiet while they're off down the pub.

"some cash tills operating with pre-programmed warnings to prevent such an offence."

That'll be Asda, Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsburys then. Will they get fined? Will they ballacks...

Parents are the problem

The real problem is the cowardly parents who will buy and allow their "little angels" to play games they shouldnt be. The stores have no ability to stop parents from blatantly buying them for their children and leaving the stores to put up with the aftermath.
