US: Warner launches HD-DVD for Blu-ray trade deal

Film behemoth offers users the chance to swap old HD-DVD collection for brand new Blu-ray discs

Disgruntled HD-DVD customers in the US are being offered the chance to modernise their film collection thanks to Warner and a new scheme entitled Red2Blu, Home Cinema Choice reports.

Owners of HD-DVD discs will be able to mail up to 25 sleeve inserts to Warner, who will in turn send out Blu-ray replacements. All users have to pay is the shipping costs and $4.95 per title.

There’s no word yet on if the offer will be trialled in other countries, but there seems little reason for it not to be.

As this site is meant predominantly for trade users, and virtually every retailer in the country that sells games sells blu-ray too, yes its appropriate news.

As well as PS3, it's also 360 news. I'm guessing that the majority of HD-DVD owners (like myself) purchased the add-on drive for their 360. That would be really sweet especially if I only have to mail in the sleeve, I'd be able to retain the few HD-DVD disks I've got.
