Much respected veteran given fresh role by new owner Square Enix
Ian Livingstone OBE has been promoted by new Eidos owners Square Enix to the role of Life President, MCV can reveal.
Livingstone moves up from his position as Creative Director at the firm.
He told MCV this afternoon: "My new role entails being the spokesperson for the Eidos group, dealing with public affairs along with company and industry speaking engagements and UK government relations.
"I'll also be a member of the CEO Executive staff group and a member of the group’s Green Light committee – having creative input on Eidos franchises and generally putting my finger in everybody else’s pie!
"I love the games industry and all the people in it. I’m delighted with my new role as it gives me the opportunity to further promote the good ship Eidos and the industry too."
Livingstone oversaw the flotation and merger of Domark with Eidos Technologies in 1995. He served as executive chairman of Eidos' Board until 2002.

He has earned a BAFTA and OBE for his services to the industry, and acts as chairman for the Computer Games Skills Council.
His career in interactive entertainment began in 1975, when he founded Games Workshop with Steve Jackson. The duo launched Dungeons & Dragons in Europe.
Square Enix has pledged to allow Edios to work as an independent subsidiary.
