Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo look ahead to the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June
Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft have each issued statements ahead of this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, set to take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 2-4.
Of the three, it was Microsoft’s Don Mattrick, senior vice president of the firm’s Interactive Entertainment Business, who made the most daring claim.
“Microsoft is gearing up for a big presence at E3 which will completely transform how people think about home entertainment,” he said.
Mattrick stated that Microsoft’s media briefing, which will commence on June 1 “will kick off E3 in blockbuster style.” Meanwhile Sony’s Jack Tretton, who will have a hand in Sony’s media briefing on the following day, said that E3 is “an ideal place for us to unveil the latest PlayStation news and products.”
Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime, meanwhile, claimed that E3 is “the place where creativity is on display, and as a ‘sneak peak’ for our entire industry it helps generate excitement for gamers around the world.”

Nearly 150 companies are preparing to show and tell at the event, according to the Entertainment Software Association (ESA).
“We are incredibly pleased with the quickly growing list of exhibitors and overwhelming support for the E3 Expo,” said ESA president Michael Gallagher.
“We anticipate a packed house and a full line-up of industry-driving news and unveilings that will continue to propel the computer entertainment industry’s growth through the year and particularly in the holiday season.”
