Wall Street Journal claims new hardware add-on will arrive next year
The rumour mill is working overtime ahead of June's E3 event, and now the Wall Street Journal is the latest to claim that Microsoft will unveil a new game controller at the event.
According to the US business publication, "Microsoft is developing a new videocamera for its Xbox 360 videogame console that will allow players to control games with the movement of their bodies, according to people familiar with the matter".

really?
i can see why MS would want to try and compete woth the Wii insofar as the motion sensing tech, but this sounds like a really crap idea. at least with the Wii you can aim at the screen and press buttons on the Wiimote n stuff, but i can't see full body motion being usefull at home. if you read the further report, it says it might be priced just under $100. if that's true, it'll flop. i can't think of any games that would actually benefit from this unless you have a Wiimote style controller. they do mention a wand, but this is stacking up to be rubbish. it also says it will dedect things like tennis rackets. KIDS; if you start swingging a tennis racket at your folks' TV, they kill you. seriously.
the fact that MS have not quashed any rumours is a little curious, suggesting it may be more than vapourware. i guess all they will have in their favour is that fact Sony's apparent motion sensitive controller looks crap too lol. (actually i'm a bit more interested in the Sony control. this is where we find out it's all just hype:)
