Sony appoints sales firm for upcoming VOD service

Music portal VidZone to offer free streaming music videos and live concert footage

PlayStation platform holder Sony is ramping up its preparations for the upcoming music video service VidZone with the appointment of a sales company for the platform.

Media Week reports that Unanimis will handle VidZone’s sales inventory including pre-rolls and online leaderboards. Its campaigns will be integrated across UK, Germany, France, Italy and Australia.

VidZone will take the form of an on-demand streaming video service and will be free to access for PS3 users. A large library of content will be available including interviews and some live concert footage.

Premium services will also be on offer in the form of downloadable tracks, tones and video for use on mobile devices.

Earlier this month Sony announced that OMD had secured its PAL media planning and buying account.

not too bothered by music vids and the like, it's most likely gonna be a load of pop culture emo types prating about. however, is it fair to say that this is one step towards a real film service? start with small 5 min clips, next steps full concerts, after that any audio/video content is possible.
