Appearance of franchise character on teaser site confirms earlier presumptions
Some alterations to Konami’s closely followed ‘Next’ teaser site have confirmed that the publisher is building up to the announcement of a new Metal Gear Solid title.
Though the last countdown resulted in nothing more than the appearance of a second countdown, the appearance of established franchise anti-hero Big Boss at least cements the Metal Gear credentials of the announcement.
However, those getting excited about the prospect of Metal gear Solid 5 would do well to take a deep breath and calm down – it’s still possible Konami could be building up to the announcement of an iPhone title, some DLC or even a retro remake.
The current countdown concludes on Sunday.

If someone else did bigbosses voice in 4, Would david hater still be doing bigbosses?
What's the big deal???
what is the big deal with this game? to me it has never been anything special since the first one on PSONE
Possible Remake
Honestly I can see this being a remake of the NES Metal Gear title, which would be AMAZING on a next...ahem "Current" gen console.
MGS1 would be my choice
If they were to remake any of the series, then the first outing on the PS1 would be my choice. It had more creativity and imagination than all the rest put together (although I never did go through 3, which I hear was the best other than 1) and I would love to see that brought up to modern day standards.
It's probably the only one that had more "game" than conversation/cut-scene and that can only be good in a "gaming" sense.
Other than that, they should just put the franchise to bed and move on.

theres already a remake from the Psone title:
"the Twin Snakes" for Gamecube! ;)
i hope the new game is with big boss! he looks way cooler than snake, even at his end!
To Jolaessig ... kinda
I Agree about hoping that the new game is all about Big Boss and I'm also with Tacos I hope that David Hayter does the voice of Big Boss it makes it more real for me i was confused at the end of MGS4 Big Boss Rules :) But so does Snake YAY METAL GEAR SOLID
