18 per cent of 360 owners “regularly” download content compared to 10 per cent of PS3 owners
North American stats behemoth NPD has revealed that 18 per cent of Xbox 360 owners who subscribe to Microsoft’s Gold Membership “regularly” download content – markedly higher than the 10 per cent of PS3 owners who do the same.
Membership of the Xbox Live Gold service is also on the up, increasing 24 per cent in the 12 months ending Q1 2009.
The total video game subscription market, which includes services such as Xbox Live and subscriptions to MMOs, grew by 18 per cent in the same period. At present, one in five gamers now subscribes to such a service.
NPD also estimates that 17 per cent of all PC games purchases were made digitally, too – a stat that many observers would claim to be far too low.

Hmm
18% of Gold Members vs 10% of all PS3 users isn't really a fair comparison. That's really 18% of xx% of 360 users - the xx% being the percentage that subscribe to Gold. So I'm not sure you can say 360 has the edge in that regard. What percentage of 360 users subscribe to Gold?
I agree
I agree with the above comment, why are they only counting gold subscribers, sounds like they are trying to 'cook' the figures. Also, if I had to pay for the online service I would download more... I'd want to get my monies worth...
Why...
do you care or worry so much? It's just a statement. Personally I think they probably used the "gold members" thing cause it's about even with PS3 users. I don't know, Im guessing here. Someone should ask. Lol.
What a typical comment

poor article
using only the gold subscriptions cuts out a considerable chunk of people who most likely would never use online features(if they even can without a gold subscription). comparing that with the whole of ps3 users is meaningless. plus it ignores the fact that since ps3 owners have blu-ray maybe they prefer to have some movies on disc so they aren't limited to only playing movies on their console... poor article and poor use of statistics to support it..
Upset
I cant believe how many Playstation fanboys are getting upset by such a unimportant article ... why so defensive about some stats them mean nothing of any real importance as you a stating.
