Halo Reach over a year away

Halo developer Bungie has stated that the recently revealed Halo Reach will not reach the market until autumn 2010, a year after the release of the next chapter in the Halo franchise – Halo ODST.

Speaking to GameSpot regarding the already touted Halo Reach beta, an unnamed Bungie staffer explained: We don’t have an actual firm date for [the beta] yet, but I don’t anticipate it being day and date with [Halo ODST].

I can say you will need the Halo 3: ODST disc to access the beta when it does become available. I can confirm that that beta will go live sometime between the release of Halo 3: ODST on September 22nd and the release of Halo: Reach next fall.”

Literally nothing of the game is known as of yet. The obvious presumption is that it will be a prequel FPS, though Microsoft may be keen to take the brand into other genres as it did with Ensemble’s successful RTS Halo Wars.
