Forza 3 to come on two DVDs

E3’09: Standard disc storage limitations see twin-disc SKU heading to retail

The increasing complexity of games and the limited storage capacity of DVDs has been threatening to come to a head for Xbox 360 of late, and Forza 3 is set to be the game that finally breaks it.

Forza’s content director John Wendl told Joystiq that: “It is going to ship on two discs. Disc one is the full experience. Even disc one is bigger than any other racing game out there. Disc two includes a lot of extra cars, even a handful of tracks.”

Users will be able to install content from the second disc on the Xbox 360 HDD so discs will never have to be swapped – except, of course, for those few Xbox 360 owners without a hard disc.

Forza 3 won’t be the first Xbox 360 to come with more than one disc. Mystwalker’s RPG Lost Odyssey, also a Microsoft published title, shipped with four discs in the box so as to house the huge amount of FMV cut scenes.

Multi Discs

Oh no, what ever will we do?!?
It's not like games back in the CD-ROM era didnt come on multiple discs is it.
I just think people have become complacent over the years, 2, 3 or even 4 discs are fine by me and probably the rest of the video game playing world, the only people who will care about it will be Blu Ray fanboys whooping with joy at how they don't have to swap dioscs (just have to install massive amounts for almost every new game!) on their system.
Good going to the dev's for using 2 discs, at least this way we know they are adding all that they can and not just storing it up for DLC at a later date.

2 discs is fine by me! Well, I say that, provided it doesn't fill my hard drive or god forbid, doesn't FIT!?? I have the original X360 with the 20GB drive, and I'm sure a large number of people do... I only get 13GB to play with anyway, and with another GTA episode later this year, I'm concerned I'm going to have to buy another hard drive, and I'm not exactly loaded......

But yeah, agreed with MikeBeaver - those Blu Ray fanboys will really throw this out of proportion... Maybe it's time they asked themselves after having 10 times the disc space - what are they getting extra? Ohhhh wait, YOU AREN'T.

Before Blu-Ray, Playstation owners were quite happy with 4 discs of Final Fantasy, 4 discs of Xenosaga etc... but the minute another company has to use more than 1 disc, it's suddenly mocked. I guess those blinkers just close a little bit more with each generation for some people.

At least Turn 10 haven't said "You MUST spend 20 minutes installing this data BEFORE you can play the game", which speaks volumes in my opinion. Disk in, play game, that's what console gaming is supposed to be about.
