Valve reluctant to develop for ‘complicated’ PS3

Indie giant states that the PC and Xbox 360 ‘are just more straightforward’

Washington-based independent Valve has said it is reluctant to develop PS3 games due to the system’s complex hardware design.

Left 4 Dead 2 project lead Tom Leonard stated that Microsoft’s Windows and 360 platforms remain more inviting for the studio to work on.

yeah yeah, gabe Newell hates sony full stop, he made his money working for microsoft years ago and still has some BS loyalty, its just lazy if a developer cant develop for all platforms these days, valve are not some tin pot company, even if they didnt want to build the game they could get someone to do a good port of the game, just lazy,

considering that devs can make games like killzone 2 or Uncharted for the PS3, then i don't see why valve should have any difficulty with the format. Konami can develop a Metal Gear title for both consoles, whoever is doing Prototype, FFXIII (poss even FFXIV) and so many other games (Bioshock, GTA, christ almost every game that rated higher than L4D on both Xbox and PS3 on metacritic with the exception of the Orange Box which WAS X-platform [admittedly better on the Xbox as EA are douchebags]). in fairness it's pretty bad business sence for any developers NOT to go X-platform these days as you're passing up another couple of million sales.

they're just being stubborn i guess, and after EA (afore mentioned douchebags) recently said they maxed out the 360 (idiots/douchebags) the 360 needs some positive press.

IMO Valve are great because they have pushed the envelope in the past. if they have stopped to challenge themselves, sacrificing the possibility of other amazing games for the fact they can't be bothered making the effort to learn how to code a platform that EVERY other 3rd party devs can use without complaining, i move they have become bloated and lazy and are no longer the same people who prioitized the gamer over anything else.

screw 'em.

These idiots that keeps saying "lazy" obviously never raised the funds for a game and don't understand the business loss that goes with most developers that walk the PS3 death march. It's a backward design implimented by arrogant engineers that think anyone who wants intelligent development environments is being "lazy". Valve gets it. Those winers that claim "lazy" are simply "clueless" fanboys. They need to get a clue. Sony needs to get an engineering lead that understands development. Until then, Sony will continue to see the ongoing decline in marketshare. Which should be no surprise to anyone who actually undestands development.

err...well i doubt (feel free to prove me wrong by all means lol) that you have either.

i'd like to use Rockstar as an example; developing the Agency exclusively (for now at least) for the PS3. they know a thing or two about making money (see GTA). How many PS devs have been closed compared to MS? really, i don't know so please tell me.
every third party who has any business sence will go x-platform, it's simple; spend a little more time and money, and make a lot more money. there are very few devs who will refuse to work with either platform, even if they make one or two exclusive titles.

in light of a recent protest on their site re L4D2, maybe if you took your tounge out of their asses for long enough you might note the sun does not shine out of it.

seriously tho, they are the only third party who say this. and BTW i was fairly diplomatic and didn't dis the Xbox once, even said Orange-Box was better on it, cos it was. you're the one who got all defensive and started mentioning fanboys. christ.
