Eidos has announced that the next instalment in its noteworthy football management series, dubbed Championship Manager 2010, will be released this September.

The game, which has been in development for two years, will for the first time include the ability for users to download real-world stats from the footballing world including standings, transfers, bookings and injuries from ten of Europe’s biggest leagues.

“Something like CM Season Live has never been done before in football management games,” Beautiful Game Studios’ general manager Roy Meredith told MCV.

“The January updates of the past are something completely different. CM Season Live offers users monthly opportunities to take on the same challenges faced by real world managers as they happen throughout the season.

“In the past players would have simply received the latest player transfers but still started their game in July. Players now receive much more, including player transfers, major injuries, player ratings, bookings, results and competition standings and the ability to enter the game mid-season.

“We’re still finalising the price for CM Season Live, but we expect it to be priced at around £5 for all 6 monthly updates. Players can be sure of is that they’ll be looking at less than a half time pint and pie at most football grounds.”

Those who decide not to subscribe will still receive a free update in February, and the whole thing remains optional. CM Season Live functionality will go live on October 15th.
