Sony responds to Kotick’s PS3 outburst

‘We enjoy healthy business relationships with and greatly value our publishing partners’

Following Bobby Kotick’s extraordinary claim that his company, Activision Blizzard, may stop supporting the PS3, Sony has declined to volley back public mud and has instead offered a calm and measured response.

"PlayStation has tremendous momentum coming out of E3,” said spokesperson Patrick Seybold, “and we are seeing positive growth with more than 350 titles slated to hit across all our platforms, including many anticipated games from our publishing partners.”

"We enjoy healthy business relationships with and greatly value our publishing partners,” he added, “and are working closely with them to deliver the best entertainment experience.”

those are the only good franchises in your opinion Henry Ford. Do you not know Activision is the biggest publisher in the whole of the industry? Call of Duty & Modern Warfare are 2 seperate franchises now aren't they? Is Star Wars games no longer a big franchise? is Marvel no longer a big franchise?

PS3 Price

PlayStation 3 price being lowered with help the retailer, publishers and consumer alike but it should make sense for Sony. Activision needs PS3 as much as Sony needs Activision to be successful. The key now is for Sony to do some performa on increase volume/sales with the lower price otherwise, it wouldn't help. Lower prices generally do mean higher sales but no always.

they may be the biggest publisher doesnt mean they are the best, or have the best line up of software, of course MW2 will sell 11million + but doesnt mean they can follow that next year, i think the COD will start to decline after this year, unless its reinvented, i just see it all as a huge empty threat, and if i just owned a ps3 it wouldnt bother me

Why Decline?

What have you been smoking Henry? COD is successful because of its loyal fanbase so your theory of decline is extremely unlikely even if the quality of the product decreases each year, I mean look at the Sonic games they continue to sell well and they generally get worse each year.

Sony PS3 is pretty much a disaster for everyone who engaged in it. Kotick told it like it is. Sony's response is lame because there is no better response for them to offer. They screwed the pooch by letting the idiot Kutaragi have his way. Now... live and learn Sony. Live and learn... and watch your marketshare continue to fly away from your grasp. Boom!
