Silver members to get three hours streaming music access per month
Microsoft has outlined some early details concerning its upcoming Xbox Live tie-up with popular music streaming service Last.fm, and the good news is that access will be free to Gold members of the online games network.
Speaking to Joystiq, Xbox Live general manager Christina DeRosa stated: "Gold users will have unlimited ad-supported access, so they can use it 24 hours a day.
"Silver users will be able access what we're considering a trial period of three hours a month, which comes with video advertising. There will also be a premium offering on a subscription basis from Last.fm, that will be commercial free and will also have more sophisticated personalization features, like Loved Tracks."
It also looks as if users will be able pay an additional fee to get the full-blooded ad-free version of the service.

Great!
Great stuff, can't wait for this - along with the recent announcement of ps2 backwards compatibility software emulation, a ps3 slim for xmas would be very nice! Plus it'll keep the kids happy and i woudn't need to lug the PHAT ps3 downstairs everytime i wanna play!:)
With games?
I'm pretty excited by this - since getting Spotify on my PC I'm loving the whole "free streaming music" vibe.
But I think I will only really use this feature on my 360 if it can work while playing games.
Just like you can stream your own music from PC, iPod or off the 360 HDD while playing games (creating your own soundtracks). Because if you can do that it'll be fantastic.
Otherwise I'm not entirely sure if there is any point. I'm not exactly going to sit there on the dashboard, or staring at a LastFM screen on my Xbox - when I can play games on it instead (which is what I bought the 360 for!) and use Spotify on my PC or Laptop.
Point
@1 is this not off topic slightly?
Like ~G~ says, would be OK if it streamed while playing games but otherwise it's just another radio in the house.
