And unleashes a slew of titles onto Valve’s Steam digital distribution service
Devoted followers of LucasArts’ classic point-and-click series Monkey Island now have a new date to mark in their diaries – July 15th will see the release of The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition on Xbox Live Arcade.
The re-make of the 1990 title boasts updated hi-def graphics, a re-mastered musical score and full voiceover.
The release joins the debut of episodic outing Tales of Monkey Island, which is due on PC today (July 7th) and on WiiWare “in the coming weeks”.
In further LucasArts news, the publisher has also confirmed that ten of its games will be released on the Steam network tomorrow (July 8th) – Star Wars: Battlefront II, Star Wars: Republic Commando, Star Wars: Starfighter, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure, LEGO Indiana Jones, Thrillville, Loom, The Dig and Armed and Dangerous.
“This effort is going to make it possible to introduce a whole new generation of gamers to LucasArts’ classic games,” LucasArts president Darrell Rodriguez stated.

“It also gives more people a chance to play our games by making them available long after they’ve disappeared from store shelves. We hope our fans are as excited as we are about our plans and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next. This is just the beginning.”
