US: New publisher for Way of the Samurai 3

Concerns that Way of the Samurai 3 could end up an Xbox 360 exclusive have been alleviated with the news that Agetec is to handle publishing duties on the PS3 version in North America.

The game, developed by Tenchu studio Acquire, was released in Japan late last year selling 80,000 copies in its first three days on sale on PS3. An Xbox 360 version arrived in February.

PS3Center reports that little known publisher UFO Interactive had previously captured the North American publishing rights for Xbox 360. Now Agetec has stepped in to bring the PS3 version to the region, with the PlayStation SKU set to include the additional content originally reserved for Xbox owners.

Both SKUs are currently scheduled for a North American release in October this year.

There’s still no word on a potential release for the game in Europe. Eidos published the first PS2 outing in late 2002 with Capcom picking up publishing duties for the same platform sequel in the summer of 2004.
