Third instalment to loved and hated film franchise said to be starting filming in September
One of the stars of the first two Mortal Kombat movies has claimed that he is set to reprise his role and begin filming a third instalment to the movie franchise in September.
Destructoid reports that Chris Casamassa, who played Scorpion, made the claim in an interview with the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
2009 has been a mixed year for Mortal Kombat, with the series’ development team failing in its efforts to separate itself from troubled parent company Midway, which was recently purchased by Warner. A new game is thought to be in development, however.
The first Mortal Kombat film, which was directed by Paul Anderson and starred Christopher Lambert, was released in 1995 shortly after the arcade release of Mortal Kombat 3.
A sequel called Mortal Kombat: Annihilation was released two years later and received even harsher treatment from the critics than the first movie.
