EA casts its spell over Top 10 – but Activision’s Transformers rises back up to No.2
EA’s Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince has climbed three places to take the top spot in ELSPA/GfK-ChartTrack’s All Formats Top 40 this week – boosted by the release of the movie in cinemas.
The publisher’s own Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 drops from No.1 to No.3, with sales down 20 per cent.
Sales of Harry Potter only rise by 5 per cent, but it is enough to see it pass both Tiger Woods and Activision-Blizzard’s film tie-in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – which moves up from No.3 to No.2 despite a four per cent dip in sales.
It has been a very successful couple of months for the US publisher, with four separate EA titles reaching No.1 in the All Formats Chart – in six of the last seven weeks. The firm now has a total of five games in the All Formats Top 10.
Nintendo’s Wii Fit continues its consistent good form despite a three per cent dip in sales, back up two places to No. 4, having remained in the All Formats Top 10 since the first week of the year.

EA’s former No.1 Fight Night Round 4 drops from No.2 to No.5 with a 30 per cent dip in sales, while Ubisoft’s ‘Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood’ (sales down 27 per cent) drops one place to No. 6.
EA’s The Sims 3 and Sega’s Virtua Tennis 2009 change places, the former up to No7 and the latter down to No8.
Activision’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare continues to outsell younger sibling World At War by holding steady at No.9.
EA rounds off the All Formats Top 10 with EA Sports Active, up from No. 13 to No.10.
Nintendo’s Rhythm Paradise re-enters the Top 40 at No21, aided by a TV advert starring Beyoncé – with sales jumping a whopping 96 per cent.
