Bungie bowing out of Halo franchise

Bungie bowing out of Halo franchise

Developer admits that Halo: Reach is likely to be the last Bungie-developed Halo title

Cult developer Bungie has admitted that Halo: Reach, of which hardly anything is yet known, will most likely be the last Halo title it develops for Xbox 360.

However, the company also hinted that platform holder Microsoft may be less willing to give up on its hugely profitable brand – particularly owing to its recent formation of Halo-dedicated studio 393 Industries.

When asked if Reach would be Bungie’s final Halo game on 360, designer Lars Bakken told CVG: “In terms of a platform for Halo games made by Bungie, yes.

”I can't answer that question for Microsoft though. Whether they have something in the works or not, I don't know if they're actually ready to talk about it yet, but in terms of Bungie-produced Halo games, ODST and then Reach is probably all you're going to get.”

Halo: Reach won’t be out until late 2010.

How you can say "it all went down hill" I have no idea, both Halo 3 and Halo Wars were positively received with average reveiw scores of 94 and 82 (metacritic) proving at the very least the games themselves were decent. Both have sold large amounts too so commercially they have also been successful, unless you can give a valid reason as to why it went downhill your comment has little validity. And personally the Halo branded games are generally of better quality than 80% of titles avaialble on the 360 and so to suggest Bungie should of announced this sooner suggests that you obviously have an issue with the franchise itself.

Halo wars wasn't made by Bungie was it? I thought they just looked over it. A new direction and a new set ideas could be just the thing that Halo needs as Microsoft have invested in a new HALO focused studio which must be for some reason hence the reason this has occured with Bungie.

I'VE NEVER BEEN A HALO FAN BUT I MUST ADMIT ITS SAD TO SEE BUNGIE GIVE UP ON THERE BABY LIKE THAT, MICROSOFT SHOULD HOWEVER CONSENTRATE ON OTHER THING LIKE BUYING THE RIGHTS TO MODERN WARFARE 2 AND 3. STOP MESSING WITH BUNGIE AND LET THEM GET ON WITH MAKING INCREDIBLE GAMES AND MAYBE THEY WILL STICK AROUND IF THEY CAN DO WHAT THEY ACCTULLY WANT TO DO, SORRY FOR THE BAD SPELLINGS LOL.
