Avatar 3D will be HDMI only on 360

Digital connection, 3D glasses and special HDTV set needed to experience new visuals

Ubisoft has added another technical requirement for those wanting to experience the upcoming James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game in its full 3D glory – an HDMI-enabled console.

That’s not a problem for PS3, of course, and Wii owners aren’t getting the 3D treatment anyway.

But it does mean that owners of Xbox 360 owners manufactured before the HDMI port became standard may miss out, according to MTV Multiplayer.

Of course, HDMI is just one of the many requirements needed before gamers can enjoy the full 3D experience.

Alongside the included 3D glasses users will also need to own a compatible full 3D 1080p 120Mhz TV set, such as the Panasonic 3DFHD panels used by Ubisoft to demo the game at E3 – which sadly are not yet available to buy.

Well then...it seems my 1080p 60hz screen and Component Xbox just isn't enough - I'm not going to spend another 700 pounds to upgrade my perfectly acceptable set up to play this game, unless there's a non-3D version?

Surely they can't be expecting high sales for this game? In order to play, you need to have a compatable TV that isn't even out yet???? Lord knows how much it's going to cost when it does?

Who the heck is allowing this to be released?

Sure, if there's a non 3-d version on the same disk it might be acceptable, but it still seems like a lot of people wouldn't be buying it if they could get the best experience possible from it?

lets wait and see if this becomes fact before passing judgement. I rather doubt then even ubisoft will limit their audience in this way.

Besides, Cameron started bleating on about Avatar, the film, 10 years or so ago. It will end up like Duke Nukem Forever.....a big letdown

Dear, this kinder 3d really going to take off, they tried it back in the days of VR 3d etc. I'd be interested once holographic displays/games are available - in the mean time just sit back, relax and play with what one's got! :)

I don't think many people are ever going to see this in it's full glory. Shame really. The movie is going to be awesome and will be easy to show in 3d. However I will never want to buy a panasonic t.v. and most certainly not for one game.

whats funny is the new "3D" effects for consoles and pcs that there pushing soo hard wount evan work on about 10%-20% of gamers as the 3d effect dosent work on those with eye conditions and other eye related issues hence for them this new tech is another compleatly useless forced update ;-)

...Not to mention only abour 50%-60% of Xbox usesers use HD tvs meaning the more they force this the more customers there going to loose.
