GAMESCOM’09: Activision boss says that call for new ideas is limited to a ‘small segment’ of gaming’s fan base
Bobby Kotick, the boss of the world’s largest games publisher Activision Blizzard, has stated that the hunger for new ideas and IP in gaming is true of just a tiny fraction of gaming’s overall audience.
“A small segment of very vocal gamers say everything has to be new and different every year,” he told The Economist.
“Actually, people are happy with existing franchises, provided you innovate within them.”
Writing of the exec, The Economist adds “many gamers dislike him, complaining that his bean-counting approach stifles creativity”.

Ben...
... does anyone else think Kotick looks like Ben from Lost??
Kotick!
Is it just me are does somebody need to smack Kotick across the back of the head! He's a bit of a twat with what he comes out and says! He's like the George Bush of gaming! And in every photo I see of him on here you always looks a bit dim!
Who thinks he's being controlled by the boys in the background - being told what to say and him actually having no idea what it is he's saying!
Maybe he's actually a robot!!!
Yawn
Basically Activision plan to keep releasing the same old games year in year out and at inflated prices.
Why
Because consumers are suckers who will keep buying it over and again. See EAs track history.
