Usain Bolt shuns Berlin for gaming

World Record breaking sprinter picks gaming over German capital's nightlife

Forget the idea that all gamers are overweight and unfit – the fastest man in the world likes nothing more than staying indoors and playing video games, it has been revealed.

Speaking to BBC Radio5 Live ahead of the 200m final at the World Athletics Championship in Berlin tomorrow, Bolt was asked if he’d chance to get out and see any of the city.

“I’m not one for sightseeing,” he confessed. “I prefer to stay in, chill out and play video games.”

When asked what he was currently playing, Bolt claimed: “Right now I like Pro Evolution football game and Call of Duty.”

He was then asked if he was as good at games as he is at sprinting. “Of course, when I play on my own,” he boasted. “But when I play online I can have trouble.”

Earlier this week Bolt smashed the World 100m Record, completing in a mind-numbing 9.58 seconds.

It seems a lot of sports people are into their video games. I guess they're not really allowed to be as hedonistic as the rest of us, as it'd ruin their career, and there's probably only so much films and TV you can watch!

It's nice to see this raising the profile of games a bit. The opposite was the case when some Liverpool players blamed their poor performance on playing too much PlayStation the night before!
