FFXIII gets simultaneous 360 and PS3 release

GAMESCOM’09: Spring 2010 arrival for Square Enix’s RPG in Europe

Yoshinori Kitase, the producer of Square Enix’s upcoming RPG sensation Final Fantasy XIII, has stated that the game will be released simultaneously on both PS3 and Xbox 360 in Europe.

Furthermore, he dated its arrival for spring next year.

“We don’t have the actual month down yet, but in Japan it’s scheduled for a winter release, and in Europe and North American territories it’s spring 2010,” he told VG247.

“For Europe and North America, the PS3 and 360 versions are going to be released simultaneously.”

Kitase went on to explain that the comparatively short gap between the Japanese and Western release is thanks to some important developments to Square Enix’s localisation processes.

“For previous titles it took usually about a year to localise each version and bring it over to Europe,” he added. “But for this title there should be a considerably shorter gap and we'll bring it to European territories as close to the North American release as possible.”

Dan: Seriously, are you completely stupid or what?
Why does a game have to be restricted to a single disc? FF7 was on 3 CD's, 8 and 9 were both on 4 discs, in what world is it only allowed for 360 games to come on one disc only?
Besides which, there have been many other multi-disc games on the xbox so far, including the quite excellent Star Ocean, which so happens to have more than one disc!

Dan before being a blind fanatic do some research.

FF 13 was being built on the Ps3 from the beginning long before even the 360 version was considered, It is known the deal was struck jsut before the announcement Microsoft did at E3, this is why even sony was shocked.

So the game has been built for the PS3 hardware take advantage of its space and they didn't build it in consideration of the 360 limitations. (DVD Drive)

Now that's firmly in place the 360 version will go on multi disk which isn't the end of the world. 10-15 hours per disk isn't going to give 360 users repetitive strain injuries, so the excuse holds no water.

Well it would be nice to see at least SOMETHING that was sony exclusive previously and is now coming to PS3... but alas FFXIII is destined to come to 360, maybe a good thing as more money can be gained in a time where we all need as much money as possible.

Still i don't own a 360, and i'm simply delighted that Versus 13 is coming to PS3 and Agito 13 is coming to PSP!
