AUSTRALIA: Xbox 360 to hit 1m this year

Microsoft’s console sales down under expected to reach milestone by end of 2009

Microsoft Australia has claimed sales of the Xbox 360 will surpass 1 million units in the region within the next few months.

Speaking to Gamespot, the company’s group category manager for Xbox 360 Jeremy Hinton claimed this would be achieved without the need for a price cut.

“We [Microsoft] expect to hit a million Xbox 360 consoles sold across Australia and New Zealand by the end of this year,” he said.

“We’ve just hit 700,000 consoles sold in Australia, and we’re now finding that it’s the fastest growing console down under. We’re confident we can reach this goal with the console’s current price point and the new experiences we’re bringing through Xbox Live such as Movies on Demand, Facebook and Twitter.”
