Xbox 360 Twitter claims ‘incorrect’

Microsoft tells MCV that plans for Facebook and Twitter access on Xbox Live are not yet finalised

Xbox 360 platform holder Microsoft has told MCV that reports claiming Twitter and Facebook access on Xbox 360 will be reserved for Gold members of Xbox Live only are incorrect.

The belief stems from a footnote in this morning’s announcement of a price cut for the Xbox 360 Elite console which stated: “Xbox Live Gold Membership will be required for Twitter and Facebook when they are available.”

However, a Microsoft spokesperson told MCV that the information is “incorrect” and that the firm “is still formulating its plans” for Xbox 360’s upcoming social network integration.

Facebook and Twitter were initially expected to come as part of Microsoft’s recent Xbox 360 ‘fall’ update but will now arrive some time later this year.

Would be silly considering it's free access on PS3 and PC browsers.

i guess they kinda have to, to keep up with the Jones', but how many Xbox owners don't already have a PC?
i suppose if it's fully integrated then it's a good thing but there are so many more things MS could bring to the table.

suggestions on a postcard please

I'm guessing that as much as people state that this is a feature already allowed on the PS3, Sony will still probably come out with a Facebook app. It is a really good selling point to be honest.

I would actually rather the apps be exclusive to Gold members actually. But then there many who would just complain and spread rumor that MS is charging people to go on FB and Twitter... I wonder if Al Gore intended for the internet to become so stupid, lol.

Stand up to Microsoft

I don't know if it's going to happen or not but I wouldn't be surprised if it did happen as Microsoft will charge extra for things that are free to everyone else such as...

- Last FM
- Twitter
- Facebook
- Online Gaming

Now all of these things are available to the PC,PS3 & even to some extent on the Wii for free yet everyone that pay's for XBL is OK with this. Microsoft Charges for DLC that is free for the PC sometimes and yea people complain but they still pay. We as gamers are allowing this to happen by paying for these things. If we don't stop this now other companies may follow Microsoft's lead and it is a bad example if you ask me.

Also I know that XBL allows for Cross Game Chat & Cross Game Invites which will eventually come to the PS3 & will still be free unless Microsoft has somehow patented it and if that's the case that sucks. I am glad Microsoft isn't in charge of the Air we breath because if they did I am sure they would charge for that too.
