Polyphony boss also confirms 1080p/60fps gameplay for upcoming racing title
The boss of Sony-owned developer Polyphony Digital has stated that his upcoming racer Gran Turismo 5 is likely to get a simultaneous worldwide release – with many still tipping the title for an arrival in 2009.
“The game is still under development but its release is not too far,” Kazunori Yamauchi stated, according to GT Planet. “It will be after the PSP Gran Turismo release and, very probably, it will be a simultaneous world release.”
The developer also confirmed that the game will run in 1080p, or ‘True HD’, and at 60fps (frames per second).
Gran Turismo on PSP is due out on October 1st. Those who buy Sony’s new PSPgo portable will be entitled to a free download of the game from PSN.

GT5
it would also be good if Kaz could confirm no screen tearing aswell.
I want this BADLY
Please god, Tell us when, Could we at least have a demo (not that prologue) I can't wait. I hope it's better than 4!
Also GT5
It would also be good if he could confirm that...
1) It is "Native" 1080p as opposed to the scaled up 1080p we saw in GT5P in the race.
2) That each race won't be a procession (to keep the number of cars down in the local area). The grid start is a big part of the excitement, bus queue starts are nothing more than cover up tactics.
3) That the AI is aware of the player.
4) That the terrible scripting used in the GT5P AI has been banished to the bin where it belongs.
5) That wall-riding is a thing of the past as collisions will have a consequence, thereby introducing a level of much needed credibility into the leaderboards.
6) That those 700+ (or is it 1000+ ?) cars will not simply contain 17 minor variations of the same car just to bump the numbers up.
7) That the damage will result in something more substantial than the door opening.
8) That driving at 90MPH actually feels like driving at 90MPH, rather than 20MPH.
9) That the "Real Driving Simulator" might actually simulate real driving for the first time in the series. It's really frustrating to drive a car in the game, only to find it's nothing like its real life counterpart... very little of my car was reflected in GT5P.
I have also noticed that the number of cars in the latest videos seems to have dropped, I wonder if that has been done to get the 1080p without the terrible slowdown seen in GT5P?
What I think Kaz needs to realise is that whilst GT5 may lead the way graphically, people aren't going to keep paying over the odds prices for pretty pictures and videos. Other franchises have made tremendous leaps forward in the time GT5 has been in production. Grid and DiRT 2 have put the adrenaline back into racing. If FM3 appears as expected, then it is going to push the bar on user content and it has certainly raised the bar on included tracks, with a reported 100.
There's also the small matter of mod-nation racers. Which although not in the same league, it still attracts the "racer" market. And of course, we're not forgetting NFS Shift and the new F1 game in 2010.
GT5 has a tough time ahead and it has to put more on the table than it has done in the past. It all boils down to can Kaz deliver, or are we looking at an all too familiar story? Based on his "6 months to build a car with damage" argument, the fact that we are seeing GT5 this year (potentially) with damage on more than 2 cars, makes his claims seem like "hot air". We shall see... I can see this as one for the "buy it used" option myself, I don't think they do enough to warrant a new purchase, based on past records... certainly not based on GT5P.
