Torres: DS taught me English

Of all the things that you’d expect one of the world’s leading strikers to keep by his side at all times, a DS equipped with a copy of Nintendo’s English Training is perhaps not one of them.

But Liverpool and Spain striker Fernando Torres has admitted that Nintendo’s popular portable and language software was one of the key tools used by the player to acclimatise himself to British culture after his move from Atletico Madrid.

One of the biggest problems I faced when I first moved to Liverpool was the language barrier,” Torres stated in his autobiography, as reported by Big Soccer.

When we were in hotels preparing for games I watched films in English with the subtitles on. The other thing I always carried with me was ‘English Training’ on my Nintendo DS – language games and exercises that helped me develop my English.”

The fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, recently admitted that he likes nothing more than a quiet night in playing Call of Duty and Pro Evolution Soccer.
