Major titles already pushed back to next year may face further postponements, predicts Ubi boss

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has predicted that triple-A games originally slated for a 2009 release and now pushed back to Q1 2010 may yet be pushed further back by panicked publishers.

Ubisoft’s own Splinter Cell: Conviction has been pushed back to next year afte originally being pencilled din for Christmas.

It joins the likes of 2K’s Bioshock 2, Sony’s Heavy Rain, Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption, and Sega’s Bayonetta – which are are scheduled for a Q1 2010 release.

“We now have a situation where there are a lot of good games due for release in the first half of next year, but I think some publishers will move again,” Guillemot told MCV in an exclusive new interview.

“The first quarter of 2010 is looking pretty crazy. So I expect some movement from the other players – some of those delayed games will be moved again.”
