To say that halo 3 sucks because gears is better is so stupid, they are completely different games with completely different game styles, comparing a 3rd person shooter to a 1st person shooter is asinine(btw I own halo 2 and 3 AND gears 1 and two so don't call me biased). ODST will sell great, reach beta or not. I am prepared to drop.

Hmmm, I don't understand Gears.
I own and finished the game and was not even slightly tempted to play the sequal.
Halo on the other hand i LOVE.
...although I do seem to have this strange hatred for 3rd person games. That might explain it

i dont like halo but if it sells loads great keeps us in business, we have ordered less than halo 3, the beta is a good way to increase sales, i know a store that has 50 pre orders on reach just because of a rumour that reach uses natal, funny thing is i have little kids comin in who just bought a 360 his first console and was going oh wow halo odst i gotta get that, the kid never played any other halo games or seen any game play, i think thats amazing that a game can be hyped so much that people will buy it blind.
now thats not to say it wont be an amazin game, for me gears is a more mature franchise, halo seems a little too american cheese for me, but they love it online so fair play, you cant call something crap because you dont like it, just say you dont like it. this is all subject to personal taste.

Sounds like they are worried about ODST not shifting the units.

I decided today to pick up Halo 3 ODST mainly because some friends of mine who are sponsored are picking it up, and we dominate kids daily. However I have been disillusioned with the idea that the Halo brand was dead, I didn't pay attention to Halo reach or Halo 3 because I figured it was a dead end. It apparently is alive and well so I will definitely purchase the H3 map packs, the game, and reach, since Bungie is continuing to produce Halo games of & games of substance. But I still much prefer COD MW, especially compared to gears multiplayer.

Face it Halo3 ODST would be great. Halo3 was average but ODST is looking good. halo3 ODST looks better than Halo3 graphically and has more gameplay features and music is much better and this was done with the same engine.

But believe it or not Halo3 ODST would surprise people like Forza 3 did. Yes Halo Reach will be looking 10X better than Halo3. just wait for beta you will be surprised.

Gears 1 and 2 are good games. i bought, played, enjoyed, and then sold, both.

Halo is a completely different game, and i think it has more replay value then Gears. The storyline and campaign have slowly declined in halo 2 and Halo 3, but regardless the online play is amazing. Multiplayer has ALWAYS been the best part of halo, even when i was a teenager having LAN parties with 15 friends playing Halo: Combat Evolved (blood gulch ftw)

Halo 3: ODST had me slightly concerned because of the lack of new multiplayer content. However the campaign is very refreshing, and possibly the best, and most difficult one to date. Additionally, firefight is a blast with a few friends, although it's largest downfall is a lack of matchmaking support on LIVE.

Bottom line... don't spend your money on politics, or clever marketing. (or some cranky fan boys that are upset that EPIC has pretty much stated that Gears of war 2 is the last Gears game that will be developed for the 360.)

ODST sells itself, if you don't know, or independent reviews aren't enough, go rent it and decide. Access the the Halo: Reach beta IS a marketing idea, and honestly not even remotely necessary.

I think (and this is just my opinion btw) that the reason they might be just a little concerned about the sell rate of ODST is because of the way it started. The game was never designed to be a full game. It was originally intended to be an add on to Halo 3 that would let you play through as an ODST on some of the levels. It got a little bit out of control and they decided to fly with it, and boom, it's long enough for a game. I believe they had a little less time to finalize the release and tests.
