Netflix coming to all consoles

Microsoft’s exclusive partnership with online rentailer only the beginning

Netflix has revealed it aims to bring its service to all formats in future, expanding on its successful partnership with Xbox 360.

While the rentailer currently provides downloadable films through Microsoft’s console, the company’s CEO Reed Hastings has stated it hopes to arrange similar deals for Wii, PS3 and more, according to Reuters.

He said: “Eventually we want to be on all the game consoles, all the Blu-ray players, all the Internet TVs. So we are working in parallel with all of those effoers.

“Currently our Xbox deal is exclusive and we haven’t characterized it more than that.”

Seems to me that Microsoft paid for one of those timed-exclusives they are so fond of this gen, and it would appear from these open comments on the subject that it is due to come to an end shortly...

My guess is they'll be a Netflix app on the PS3's XMB by this time next year...

What's the difference between the movie service currently available to PS3 users in the US in relation to what Netflix provides? I've heard the movie service that is currently availabe to US PS3 users is coming to Europe soon.
