New UK Wii bundle leaked

Current SKU replaced with new bundle including both Wii Sports titles and Wii MotionPlus

A retail source has told MCV that the UK will shortly unveil a brand new Wii hardware SKU that will replace the current bundle incorporating Wii Sports.

The source has not, however, been lead to believe that the new bundle will be any cheaper than the current offering, meaning that the UK could yet miss out on the price cut arriving soon in North America and Japan.

The pay-off, though, is that UK gamers are set to get a lot more included in Wii’s basic hardware SKU than consumers overseas.

The new bundle will include the console, a WiiMote, one nunchuck controller, a MotionPlus peripheral and copies of both Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.

It’s the first time that either MotionPlus or Wii Sports Resort has been officially bundled with the Wii console.

Will it be enough?

Doesn't Wii Sports Resort make the original Wii Sports redundant?

Nevertheless, I think this may have less of an impact than a direct price cut.

As unfair as it may seem, the price of Wii will compare unfavourably with a blu-ray ps3 slim just as price-conscious shoppers look for value-for-money.

A calculated gamble - it'll be interesting to see what happens over Xmas '09.

Not surprised at the lack of a cut in the UK given the current euro /pound exchange rate (we're currently paying £45 less than the rest of Europe..so a 50 Euro cut will just bring them level with the current UK price).

How well the Wii does will be down to marketing IMO. The Ant and Dec ad campaign seems as if it could be pretty powerful..and a Black Wii SKU wouldn't hurt either.

Good point about Ant & Dec campaign - will their appeal and wit still hold?

They're not exactly flavour of the month anymore.

Wii needs better software.

I think the Wii may struggle this Xmas even at £150 due to the lack of good games being released for the console.

Wii sports resort was Ok but was Motion plus that great?

PS3 and Xbox 360 both have new motion technology on the way that looks far superior to that on Wii.

shame as i thought the Wii was great when it launched but the lack of decent software recently has forced people to put the Wii under the stairs or trade in for a a more superior console.

Also i wish Nintendo would stop using Nindie (Koch) as there preferred distributor in the UK as i feel the customer service from both Gem and Advantage is much better. (anyone else feel the same please comment)

OK enough bitching back to selling more Halo 3 ODST.
