Three free full-game downloads offered to those who purchase new disc-less PSPgo
Ahead of next week’s global PSPgo launch, Sony has revealed that all those who buy the machine will be entitled to three free full-game downloads from the PSP PlayStation Store.
The plan is what Sony in June referred to as it’s ‘solution’ to those who wished to upgrade to the new machine but already owned a collection of games on UMD disc – none of which will be compatible with Sony’s new device.
Dubbed PSPgo Rewards, the scheme will offer a total of 17 titles to choose from including the likes of Killzone: Liberation, Everybody’s Golf, LocoRoco, Patapon and Echochrome.
Users will be required to log in to PSN via their existing machine and register for PSPgo Rewards. Registration will only be allowed if a UMD is inserted into the drive.
Shortly afterwards they will receive an email with a promo code with which they can log into PSN with their new PSPgo and pick their games.

The promotion kicks off on October 1st and will conclude on March 31st.

WTF?
And if you own more than three PSP games...?
(Unlikely, I know, but still possible)
More than 3 games?
Did they even make 3 games for the PSP?
4 free games
Well thats 4 free games for me for nothing (get GT for free as well). That helps reduce the cost of it a bit. I'm just lucky that my psp umd library = 1 game. Now lets just hope that LBP is one of the 17 games!
pah
so what's to stop me borrowing a UMD from someone and getting a game i don't have and them using the same disc?
anyway, i'm looking forward to the new PSP store but i'm gonna stick with my old 2000 for the time being, poss upgrade to 3000. other than that i'm not too keen on the GO itself. look too fiddley
I'm meant to be trading my old one in!
Is it just me or does this sound a bit crap given that I was going to trade in my old PSP towards my new PSP Go???
How will this exactly work? From what I have read, so far, I will have to buy a PSP Go outright whilst keeping my old PSP. I will then connect them both to the PSN store and get the code for the three games. Unfortunately this then leaves me with my old PSP still that I would then need to trade in for more games, negating the free games idea as I am £60 worse off from buying the Go outright!!!
Oh Sony
When will you learn. This is a crap offer and you know it. Average PSP owners have more than three games and probably a damn site more films on UMD. You encouraged gamers to invest in the new format only then to say 'you don't want that, you want this new shiny thing that does exactly the same job. Oh, did we mention you can't use those games you've bought already......'
Please Sony stick with what you have and stop trying to reinvent your hardware every five minutes. If you put as much investment into your games development as you have done with the hardware you wouldn't be constantly trying to catch the others up all the time.
Deja-Vu
Crash - I agree with what you're saying but remember this is Sony, 'buy this Mini-Disk player it's the future' Sony, 'buy this blu-ray equipped PS3, and then buy downloadable HD games for it' Sony...
Their problem is investing in dead-end physical media when the future is download, music, films and games...
In your dreams
Deja-Vu - physical media is far from dead eneded. DD is along way off for alot of devices. The shear size of PS3 games/ Movies means that it won't happen for a long time, it would take to long to download a 25Gb/50Gb game or movie. Untill internet connections are both faster and affordable DD won't replace physical media any time soon.
