FIFA 10 breaks sales records

More than 1.7 million copies already sold across Europe; becomes biggest-selling sports game in history

FIFA 10 has shattered records and become the fastest selling sports game ever.

The game sold 1.7 million copies across Europe since launching last week, also making the biggest European launch in Electronic Arts’ history.

“We’re confident that FIFA 10 would be a hit, and this week fans across Europe have show just how much they love this game,” said EA Sports president Peter Moore. “We are incredibly proud of FIFA 10 and this kick-off for great authentic competition.”

The game’s online features have proven to be particularly popular. More than 10 million gaming sessions have been played online since launch, with over 155,000 gamers playing online simultaneously during peak playing hours.

FIFA 10 has also performed well critically, receiving widespread acclaim. EA reports that it is currently the highest rated sports game ever on both PS3 and Xbox 360, with Metacritic scores of 92 and 91 respectively.

Of course it would at £25. I wonder how many it would have sold at £39.99 accross the board.

At £39.99 I can personally see FIFA 10 pulling the same sales figures, because its nothing but a massive money maker for EA, and people buy it like its going out of fashion every year.

Not saying it would not have sold, but would it have been the biggest selling game as the article says at £39.99? Last years version was not as it was not as cheap as £25.
Sales are always huge on Fifa but the £25 helped even more without a doubt.
