Forza Motorsport 3 leaked

Microsoft’s latest racer pirated weeks ahead of retail release

Reports have emerged that Microsoft’s Forza Motorsport 3 has been pirated.

A Koku Gamer piece states the anticipated Xbox 360-exclusive racer has already been leaked to several peer-to-peer websites. The game is due to be released on October 23rd.

The download allegedly contains the full version of the game, as well as the additional content found on a second disc that will be included in the box, containing extra tracks and cars.

Unfortunately this is what will kill off the high street retailer. Im retailing on the internet only now and still its a struggle to sell games that are leaked well before the official release date.

It's just the US version of Forza available, something you'd be aware of if you'd actually go looking for the facts yourself, rather than just taking some other site's word as bond.

Anyway, nothing new; all 360 games get pirated pre-release etc etc...

The game being leaked won't have a significant affect significantly on anyone selling this game. Halo ODST was leaked a month early and yet that game has sold £2.5million units worldwide in 2 weeks.

@ Elvisinder:

Don't be daft. The thing that is killing retail if anything is exclusive distribution agreements. They prevent competition and allow them to charge nigh on the full RRP to independent retailers.

The simple fact is that consumers expect to pay circa £30 for a game these days – that's not going to change, no matter how much industry figures pray.

The best thing for indies would be to campaign for exclusive distie agreements to be disbanded. Then, maybe, just then the real threat to the high street will be gotten rid of.
