Konami’s latest football sim is finally released as bumper shipment arrives at retail
Publisher Konami has revealed that it has shipped over 3m copies of Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 to retail in preparation for today’s long-awaited release.
“PES 2010 is Konami’s largest release of the year, and we cannot stress the gratitude for all the input from the enormous PES fan base,” Konami’s European marketing and PR director Martin Schneider stated.
“Global sales for the PES series to date are over 55.5m, and we expect a very strong performance from what is easily the best PES in a long, long time. We have worked closely with PES fans and football fans in general to create a game that ticks every box.
“We will be continuing this two-way conversation as we look to DLC for PES 2010, and further beyond. Their help will be invaluable in making sure PES is recognized as the leading football series for any format.”
Key new features in this year’s version include 360-degree movement, improved defender intelligence, smarter referees, a graphical revamp, licensed music, re-worked menus, new animations and numerous Master League enhancements.

Hmmm
The advertising campaign states "most realistic football game ever" it's a shame the game critics don't think that.
3m copies!!
I think most people who wanted a football game have bought FIFA by now, especially as it was so cheap thanks to the supermarkets, and not to mention the critical acclaim.
Therefore, it looks like it will only be the hardcore PES fans who will be buying this version so those 3m copies will take some shifting.
Hmmm
Just bought a copy after a couple of plays the jury is still out. I must admit I have been playing Fifa 10 since it was launched and it is a great game especially at the £24.99 I paid for it.
Does PES 10 match up, watch this space
Really
I have both and PES10 is a return to form. I feel slightly cheated in terms of the reviews as most people will now know about the "features" in Fifa 10 that none of the reviewers mention. It is obvious that a lot of the reviews either played the game for a short time or didnt bother to read the instructions, Both will be great games this year, but I will be returning my Fifa this year, because of the bugs and keeping the PES.
PES Back on form
PES is definitely back to its best this year. Picked it up at midnight the other night and have not stopped playing (well not literally!) Its a marked improvement over PES08 and 09. Having 'defected' to Fifa 09 last year I was mightily impressed with the game. However, this was short lived and I longed for a better PES game and this year t has come.
A return to form?
PES 2010 is better than last years effort, but its still a million miles away from FIFA10-and every critic agrees. Its still dated and clumsy next to EA's constantly improving effort and only the deluded hardcore PES fan clinging on to glories past will think otherwise.
Not good enough for my £40, I'll stick with FIFA 10.
The King Returns
Beats FIFA in nearly every department except licenses. Last two years PES has been shoddy, but play this for more than an hour, and you'll realise how much depth there is to the game compared to FIFA's street trick festival of numbing dreariness.
