PES 2010 shines on PS3

PES 2010 shines on PS3

Sony’s console accounts for 66% of game’s sales; Week one performance down 39%

Though the Xbox 360 traditionally enjoys the greater share of multiplatform title sales, the PS3 has emerged as the clear platform of choice for Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer.

The PS3 version of PES 2010, which was released last Friday, accounted for 66 per cent of the game’s overall sales, with Xbox 360 claiming less than half that (32 per cent).

The PC version claimed just two per cent of the week one sales.

This is at least in part due to the release of Xbox 360 exclusive Forza Motorsport 3 this week, which claimed second spot in the ELSPA GfK-ChartTrack All Formats Top 40 and is the best selling Xbox 360 title of the week.

However, despite storming to the top of the UK charts, PES 2010 actually fared far worse at retail than its predecessor, PES 2009, selling 39 per cent fewer copies in its first weekend.

It seems fashionable to bash PES since 2008 and its probably deserved but this latest version is a big step in the right direction.its a deep and rewarding experiance where many hours will be lost with master league and fiddling with player cards etc etc.Its now though time for Konami to invest in a new game engine, the animations are still from the ps2 era and this needs sorting.

Deserves to do well. A much more rounded product than its predecessors (the online actually works!) and a return to form.

Good week for PS3

PES2010 outselling (and being the better port), Borderlands being much better on PS3, Brutal Legend ending up better on PS3..

Bad week for Xbox. Losing Netfix (and Xbox owners still having to pay twice), locking into Microsoft memory cards, and Blu-Ray getting cancelled because Micosoft would rather screw gamers over than swallow their pride than pay Sony and Sun money..

@Mark #4: You mean like Sony and Rumble? Where they wouldn't pay for the tech, told everyone they didn't need it anyway because it was "last gen" and then later realised that they could get people to buy more controllers at £40 a pop, so suddenly introduced it?

I'd love to know how the PS3 is the better port when it isn't ported TO the PS3.

As for memory cards, I guess you don't remember the PS1 memory card fiasco then? 99% of the people I know have only ever bought official memory cards, so locking consoles to official ones is neither here nor there. Why trust 3rd party cheapo memory for something that you have spent maybe 40 or 50 hours on?

Games don't need BR, only PS3 owners believe they do, and that's because they were forced to pay for a technology Sony "Trojan Horsed" into homes to get the movie format war won. Perhaps you could explain what part of "not wanting BR" is actually screwing gamers? Or perhaps you can't.

It seems you are too obsessed with media functionality, which quite frankly, the gamer doesn't give a toss about, and therefore is not getting screwed over.

I've never watched a single movie on any of my consoles, I have DVD/BR players for that. I buy "games" consoles for games, strange but true.

I agree with most of your comments mark, but if the rumours are true then i`m afraid microsoft are screwing people by charging them double the price for xbox live which i think is a disgrace.Maybe microsoft should forget about putting sky and facebook on it because clearly they are getting distracted with putting other crap on the 360.If people wanna go on facebook use your pc and if you wanna watch sky use your sky box.The point is gamers don`t get a say on this and i for one(who owns both consoles)don`t want all this added crap.

@leek, your eXbox fanboi tripe shines through very strongly, you have an ego of a elephant, the arrogance of a chimp and the brains of a snail. So why not skip tyhe added cr@p as you own both consoles are are to much of a coward to say which is the best! We all knew the PS3 was and forever will be, just like the PS2 was. The eXbox may now compete with the PS2 for value.

BTW who cares what you do with your toiletpaper, we know what we do with the PS3.
