BSkyB’s On Demand director says service “may very well” hit Sony’s console
Microsoft is planning to make lots of noise about its recently released (though temporarily troubled) Xbox 360 Sky Player service – but the signs are that PS3 owners may soon be getting some of the action, too.
Speaking to VideoGamer, Sky’s director of On Demand Griff Parry said of PS3 Sky Player: “It may very well happen in the future.”
If the deal does come to fruition, it would drastically increase PS3’s multimedia credentials – Sony’s console already sports one of the best versions of the iPlayer on the market and is of course the only machine capable of playing hi-def Blu-ray movies.
Alongside the console Sky and iPlayer services, Netflix is also expected to in the near future announce a deal with Nintendo, meaning that movie rental service will be available on all three current-gen home console in North America.

no surprise really
in the same way that most trird party games are now Xplat where they were exclusive, it makes sence for any third party to make their services available on as many different platforms as possible.
i'm interested to hear how the "Canvas Project" pans out, but then that said there's very little worth watching on TV these days even if you do have satelite TV.
i've got freeview but the only things i've made a conscious effort to watch lately has been Life on BBC (bonus iplayer on PS3) and my Mrs likes to watch Emma (i like to leave the room at that point). i can't think of any other TV that's even remotely worth watching unless you really do have time to kill. sport perhaps? since BBC got the F1 rights i've been watching the BBC more and more. can anyone please tell me what i am missing on Sky? and before you say i'm blowing the Beebs todger, i'd rather stab myself in the eyes than watch Stricly Ball-bag. that kinda show has to be stopped!
Sky on PS3
Watch "Lie To Me" on Sky 1, Tom. Absolutely fantastic! Tim Roth stars.
Already have Sky+ but I suppose any further functionality/service available to the PS3 is good.
Sky on Da PlayStations
I quite like the idea, one of the BIG things on the PS3 for me ATM is BBC iPlayer, if they could also nab 4 on Demand, ITV Player and 5FWD, it would be the ultimate home entertainment unit.
In fact I'd probably sell my Sky HD player and buy a bigger HDD for my PS3 with the proceeds.
