505 Games refuses to budge on Friday, November 13th release date for Cooking Mama
505 Games will become the only publisher in the country to release a flagship Q4 release in the same week as Activision’s Modern Warfare 2 next month – and has no fear of the epic shooter.
Retail has ordered more units of Cooking Mama 3 than any other title in the series, according to 505 – in preparation for demand over the Christmas period.
And despite fellow publishers shifting the release date of major releases to avoid doing battle with Modern Warfare 2, the firm told MCV this week that it wasn’t worried by the prospect of sharing shelf space with the title.
505 Games managing director Ian Howe said: “Clearly Modern Warfare 2 is going to do great business. But there are plenty of consumers who will be shopping that weekend for something other than Modern Warfare 2, and there will be huge footfall in stores, so it’s a good opportunity more than anything else. I do understand why other publishers have avoided this date though.”
505 has committed to a PR and media campaign that will run into 2010 to the title – in an attempt to broaden Cooking Mama’s audience yet further.

“Our expectations are hard to judge at the moment,” added Howe.
“All I can say is that we have had tremendous support from retailers for Cooking Mama 3.
“They are all excited by the opportunity that it presents, especially given that we are coming out in time for Christmas this year. We are confident that Cooking Mama 3 will have strong sales and a long life. “

Makes sense to me
The gane is completely different to MW2 - Xmas is approaching so why wouldnt you want this game in stores to capture the footfall as he states. The majority of people who want to buy this game are going to buy it regardless of when the MW2 juggernaut drops. Best of luck...
That reminds me.......
......I must go out and pre-order Cooking Mama 3 in case they run out of stock :-)
I think...
I think it's incredibly smart. I wouldn't at all be surprised if there are certain wife/girlfriends/mums who are dragged to the launch event/day to pick up a copy of MW2 for their boyfriend/husband/son – if 505 manage to get at least some good instore POS, it might just have a better effect at selling those games than a media campaign elsewhere might do.
Mama Warfare
I'll be there picking up a copy of MW2 for me and cooking mama for my boyfriend...no wait.. o.O
thats why he's the boss =]
This is probably the smartest move they could've done.
They aren't competing for the MW2 audience. Or the AC II crowd.
This will be for people who come into the shop (willing or not), get MW2 and maybe a few xmas gifts, or something to keep the wife/gf/kids happy whilst they get dem der terrorists
